It Is Very Hard To Find A Good Wife In Nigeria – Mikel Obi

Mikel Obi recently spoke to Kayode Tijani about his life and other issues. But this is what caught our attention in the interview; where he spoke about marriage.

‘I know, normal people don’t go through what I am going through now when it concerns finding a Wife to marry, and normal people don’t at all. Believe me it’s so so difficult, very difficult, it’s so so difficult you just have to leave it to God. There might be someone who really loves me truly for who I am but I may not be aware and maybe you don’t know… or you may think she’s one of those who loves you for who you are or what you have, or because of your money, maybe she’s there for you, you never know, you get so confused, now I have decided I will just leave it to God to decide who I get married to’

This is beginning to look like a not too pleasant year for Nigerian Entertainers as we’re still mourning the passing away of Goldie, another movie icon, Justus Esiri, has died. According to different sources and his son’s confessions, Justus Esiri’s family lost him to diabetes caused by old age.
esiriHe was said to have passed on about 3 hours ago in a Lagos hospital. A source said the now late Justus Esiri has been secretly battling diabetes for a while but his family chose to make it a secret until his sudden demise Monday night at the age of 71.

Just this last week two Nollywood actors died tragically.

Before his death, Justus Esiri was a member of the Order of Niger (MON). He came into limelight in the early 80′s through the popular Village Headmaster TV series. Pope Appeals For Peace In Nigeria In Easter Message

Pope Francis used his first Easter Sunday address to call for peace in the world and appealed for a diplomatic solution to the crisis torn countries and regions of the world such the Korean peninsula, Syria, Iraq, Nigeria, Mail and the Central Republic of Africa.
The Pope decried the continued insurgent attacks in Nigeria when he prayed for Africa and and referred to Mali and Nigeria, “where attacks sadly continue.” He sued for peace across the world.
In his first “Urbi et Orbi” (to the city and the world) message, Francis also called for peace between Israelis and Palestinians, an end to the civil war in Syria, and political solutions to conflicts in several African countries.
He singled out “dear Syria”, saying: “How much blood has been shed! And how much suffering must there still be before a political solution is found?”
Later in his speech, Pope Francis said: “We ask the risen Jesus, who turns death into life, to change hatred into love, vengeance into forgiveness, war into peace.”
The Pope then mentioned troubled regions of the world in turn.
“Peace for the Middle East, and particularly between Israelis and Palestinians, who struggle to find the road of agreement, that they may willingly and courageously resume negotiations to end a conflict that has lasted all too long.
“Peace in Iraq, that every act of violence may end, and above all for dear Syria, for its people torn by conflict and for the many refugees who await help and comfort.”
For Africa, the Pope referred to Mali, Nigeria – “where attacks sadly continue” – the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Central African Republic.
He added: “Peace in Asia, above all on the Korean peninsula: may disagreements be overcome and a renewed spirit of reconciliation grow.”
Pope Francis concluded by saying: “Peace in the whole world, still divided by greed looking for easy gain, wounded by the selfishness which threatens human life and the family, selfishness that continues in human trafficking, the most extensive form of slavery in this 21st Century.”
“Peace to the whole world, torn apart by violence linked to drug trafficking and by the iniquitous exploitation of natural resources! Peace to this our Earth! May the risen Jesus bring comfort to the victims of natural disasters and make us responsible guardians of creation.”

For Men: How To Dress For An Interview

Dressing for a job interview can be difficult – you don’t want to go too formal, or too casual. It’s an imprecise science, but we can offer you some general advice so you’ll make a great first impression. Whether you land that dream job or not, follow these tips and at the very least be ready for celebratory – or consolatory – drinks immediately after.
Tops
dress shirt
The first thing your interviewer is going to see is your shirt, so make it count. A white shirt runs the risk of being too plain, and anything too dark will generate a negative impression. A light colored shirt will communicate a positive attitude to a potential employer, and a pale blue shirt will match almost every jacket in your closet. If the interview is more casual, you might feel more confident adding a sweater, or going with a patterned shirt, but stay simple with colors and patterns.
shirt
Bottoms
khaki-pants
In a more relaxed office environment, you might be able to get away with a pair of khakis, or even a nice pair of jeans, but we’re not all so lucky. If you’re unsure, khakis are a great compromise option. Get a decent pair that looks crisp and new. If you don’t know how to make your khakis look great, you can always ask your mom *winks*. Remember though, when wearing khakis or slacks, you must tuck your shirt in.
The Suit
suit
The old standard, a suit can almost never go wrong; even if its too formal for the interview, your potential employer still see’s you looking your best. Here are some tips for wearing a suit to a job interview:
- Never keep the suit jacket b*ttoned up while sitting – it’s not made for it, and will make you look awkward
- Don’t wear a brand new suit – you’ll look and feel stiff.
- Don’t b*tton the bottom b*tton on a suit jacket
- Finally, have your suit pressed beforehand to ensure you look your best
Accessories
accessories
You’re only half done now, as the accessories are what turn a regular interviewee into a potential employee. Keep the following in mind:
- Wristwatches should be worn on your off-hand
- Your shoes and belt should always match
- The metal on your body – cufflinks, belt buckle, tie-pin – should be coordinated
- A pocket square is always too formal in an interview setting
- If you’re unsure of the official policy regarding tattoos and jewelry, keep them out of sight and off your body.
The Interview Itself
Be confident, be polite, and be flexible. Make eye-contact, don’t give evasive answers, and don’t shuffle around too much. Most of all, give a good solid handshake. It can be difficult, but stick to a few simple tips. Only initiate a handshake after eye-contact has been made. Only offer your hand once your bodies are facing one another, and don’t leave it hanging too long if you’re shot down.
If you get into a handshake, mirror their actions, and begin to release after two pumps. You can never be too prepared, so check out the company online to get a sense of how they operate. Lastly, always follow up, it might be the hardest part when you’re in that state of uncertainty, but it keeps you in the employers mind and shows initiative; all in one quick call.
Closing Tips
These are just some general guidelines, but one of the most useful sources of information can be the hiring officer. Don’t be afraid to ask what kind of clothing would be most appropriate for the interview, it’ll save you a lot of unnecessary worry. If you’re bad at keeping eye-contact, try using looking at the spot just above the interviewer’s eyes. But don’t stare them down – this is a job interview, not a duel.
Lastly, it takes a real man to accept his failures gracefully. If you don’t get the job, politely ask the employer why, and if they have any advice for you. Finally, always thank them for the opportunity and request they keep you in mind should another opening emerge.

Sisqo-last-dragon-300x336

After more than a decade away from the music scene, R&B singer Sisqo (born Mark Althavean Andrews), is set to release a new album this summer titled ‘Last Dragon’.
Sisqo, a wave making artiste in the turn of the millennium, announced his grand entry to the music world with the Grammy-nominated smash hit “Thong Song,” off his debut studio album, “Unleash the Dragon.”
Following his second studio album release ofReturn of Dragon in 2001, it’s been 12 years since fans have heard anything from the multi-platinum selling singer as a solo artist.
“I’ve been working on the album for a minute but the timing just wasn’t right to come out. I’ve had the opportunity to release music several times,” Sisqo says.
Originally slated for release in 2008, the Last Dragon will be the final part of his ‘Dragon’ trilogy featuring a variety of material recorded over the past three years.
According to him his ability to be ahead of the curve will see him right.
“A lot of the time people say my music is ahead of its time,” he states. “My [new] album is complied of a lot of music that I started working on three years ago and it’s relevant now. The whole techno’ thing – I started experimenting with that three years ago. It wasn’t even really that mainstream popular. Now everybody’s doing it.”

Enyeama’s Bombshell: I Am Criticised Because I Am Not Hausa, Yoruba Or Igbo

EnyeamaVincent Enyeama believes the criticism he has received in his international career have been largely fuelled by tribal sentiments not because of his performance in-between the sticks.
The former Enyimba keeper came under the spotlight severally in 2012 after making a series of costly errors in high profile matches for the national team and he believes his critics have been vocal because he is not from one of the three major tribes in Nigeria.
The 30-year old Super Eagles safe hands is from Akwa Ibom state, South-South Nigeria.
“My critics will remain as long I am still with the national team. I am criticised because I am not Hausa, Yoruba or Igbo but I am not worried,” Enyeama said in a recent interview.
The Maccabi Tel Aviv shot-stopper however holds no grudge against those who have slammed him in the past insisting that “Critics make the game sweet so why should I be angry? When they criticise me, they only make me stronger so I give them thanks.
“I also thank God for giving me strength,” he concluded.

Wizkid, ELDee, D’Prince… See  List Of 5 Acts Who Dumped Rap For Pop Music

Not every pop star started out singing and composing smash hit singles. Some of the biggest pop stars in the game today started out as rappers. Let’s highlight the top pop stars who were once rappers… Let’s know if we missed out any names!
eLDee
1. eLDee- When the history of Nigerian Hip Hop is written, eLDee will undoubtedly have more than a few pages. Unknown to many of eLDee’s younger fans the former leader of the rap group Trybesmen not only laid the blueprint of the modern Nigerian rap sound but was the first to go the Alaba route. In his rap days, eLDee helped kick start the careers of some of today’s biggest rappers which include SashaBlaiseand 2 Shotz. He was no slouch on the mic either as he held his own with rhyme partners Freestyle andKaboom. But now, he has quit spitting bars; choosing instead to be a singer, with so many hits under his belt. Once in a while though he still lets the rapper in him come out.
Skales
2. Skales- Skales might have big pop hits such as ‘Mukulu’ and ‘Ko Mo Le’ but anyone who knows his history knows that he was once touted as the next great rapper to come out from the North. His debut single ‘Heading For A Grammy’ had Hip Hop lovers giving him their stamp of approval. Skales however flipped the script a couple of years later when he started dropping pop singles. Even though he sings a lot these days he still drops a few rap verses when he can just like he did on ‘Baddest Boy
Dr Sid
3.   Dr. Sid- Dr. Sid was once a member of the now defunct rap collective ‘Da Trybe’ founded by eLDee.The Mavin star today is one of Nigeria’s most consistent pop acts but back in the day Dr. Sid was more concerned about rhyming than singing. When he joined Mo’ Hits he still had his rap cape on but when his solo album Turning Point dropped in 2010, Dr. Sid was all about hooks, melodies and harmonies. And he hasn’t looked back.
D’ Prince
4. D’ PrinceDon Jazzy’s younger brother once had his sights on being a very good rapper. His features on the Mo’ Hits compilation album showed a young D’ Prince trying to be a good rapper. However when his solo career kicked off he left all that behind and turned pop. He hasn’t done badly for himself judging by the number of hits he has stacked.
Wizkid
5. Wizkid- Surprised? Before Wizkid became the huge pop star he is today he was a young rapper hoping for a big break on the streets of Surulere. Tracks of Wizkid rapping are rare but if you check out Wizkid’s freestyle on Tim Westwood and listen to ‘That’s Me’ featuring Paedae you can see the viral star boy busting a few rhymes

X-Factor Winner To Get N24m

Simon Cowell X Factor founder
Simon Cowell X Factor founder.
Globacom sponsored X-Factor has put up a prize money of N24 up for grabs by the winner of the maiden edition of the show.
No one has full details yet, but Glo announced its sponsorship of the show, which is being promoted by Optima Media Group, last Wednesday during the weekly Industry Nite at GET Arena in Lagos.
Apart from the mouth-watering N24m cash prize, I gathered that the winner will also get signed to Sony Music – although we could not immediately confirm if it’s a worldwide deal or a contract for the African market.
It’s the first time any music talent show is promising to sign winners to an international label, since the scandal of Timi Dakolo and West Africsa Idol (2007).
Selection of judges, hosts and other pre-kick off elements are now being concluded, with insiders saying a full announcement should be made next week.
Optima Media Group (OMG) – producers of X-Factor are also responsible for Nigerian Idol andNigeria’s Got Talent.

I’m Banky W, And I Stand For Change. Do You? – Read EME Singer’s Moving Speech

Banky W
Benjamin Franklin once said “when you’re finished changing, you’re finished”. I’d like to take that a step further by saying “we must be a part of the change we seek, or risk being changed ourselves”.
The question is no longer “will Nigeria change”… but rather, it’s “will it change for the better or worse” and “who will lead that change”.
History is rife with instances of regimes, institutions and societies seeming stable and unshakeable… but young people being fed up with the status quo, became the catalysts of Change in their societies. In recent times we’ve seen young people all over the world clothe themselves with the “change” mantle and become a part of the movement. We’ve seen that no matter the society, and no matter the circumstances of oppression and corruption, change is possible if the people decide that enough is enough. From Tunisia, to America, to Egypt… young people are changing the world every day. Nigeria should be no different.
They say “insanity” is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. We cannot continue the same behaviours, year in, year out and expect better results. Except for prayer, you can’t do the same thing over and over again and expect things to be better. And even with prayer, you actually have to get up and do something after all they say heaven helps those who help themselves.
Things young people can do:
1)   Be involved in the political process:
Actually Vote for the right candidates.
Or Sit back and let someone else steal your voice.
2)   Peacefully protest
Media: Old & New
i.      TwitterFacebook etc – I believe that even though the internet accessibility in Nigeria is still low, we cannot ignore the importance of such platforms. They serve as tools that can help in the movement. And things are changing everyday… many phones today have some internet capability or the other.
Efforts like Occupy NigeriaLight Up NigeriaEnough is Enough, etc.
Newspapers, blogs, etc.
3)   Become fully involved in the Political process.
It’s easier to talk about and/or criticize people that are working than to do the work yourself. Join a party and try to help influence policy. We can level the playing field if we all get involved in this Movement for Change. And it’s not just at the federal level. Young people need to start getting involved even from the local and state  levels in order to properly influence policy and society.
4)   Use whatever voice or platform you have… constructively. I’m a musician and so you’ve seen me singing and speaking publicly about the need for the change in our country… but you can use whatever sphere of influence you have… be it with family, friends, school, neighborhood, church or mosque. Everyone has a voice and a role to play.
I’m here because I’m a dreamer. Everything I have now, that God blessed me with… was born out of my dreams. I dreamt of becoming a singer; dreamt of owning my own Record Label company, and other businesses. Dreamt of being able to influence my surroundings, my city, my state and my country through my work. But Some people stop at dreaming while others actually wake up and set about trying to make those dreams come true.
I dream of a changed Nigeria where each child, no matter the background has a dream of his/her own, and is given access to education, healthcare, and basic amenities in life to make those dreams come true.
I dream of a changed Nigeria where the opportunities abound for anyone willing to work for them; where every man, woman and child is given a fair shot to avoid poverty and become a success at whatever they set their minds to do.
I dream of the day in Nigeria where we finally live up to our potential – as citizens, leaders, countries, and as a Continent.
If our children and future generations witness Nigeria in the same conditions we have her today, then we would have failed them. That’s why I’d rather be here, speaking with like minds and putting my hands to the plow, than sitting at home being an arm chair critic.
We’re all here because we want to be a part of Changing Nigeria for the better. That’s why we are getting involved. Whether or not each person’s intentions are pure… only God would know… only Time will tell and only History will judge.
However I’d rather be a part of the movement for change, than be one of those that are content to sit back and criticize. I’d rather be a player on the field, or a coach, or a worker on the team, than be a fan in the stands, or home watching on tv.
One of my favorite sayings is “the best way to predict your future is to create it”. We can extend that to say that we must create the Nigeria that we want to live in. We must all speak up. We must all work for it. We must all stand up and be counted, if our dreams are to become reality.
I’m Banky W, and I stand for change. Do you?

HMMM D OLD MEN NEVA GIVE UP

MAKE I GYM SMALL FOR THE BABES....LOL

WHY TONTO DIKEH MUST BE STOPPED

I have watched with patient annoyance, I have listen with patient distress, to the sights and sounds of our dear actress turn singer Tonto Dikeh. Like many others, I chose not to talk about her but I was forced to know how wrong I was for keeping silent by the words of Alibaba and OJB, two eminent personalities that means a lot to the entertainment industry.

Alibaba once tweeted “Playing a song of an artiste that you know is not good enough is no encouragement you are spoiling the market”, I don’t know what he had in mind. In an online interview with OJB by the crew of Information Nigeria, he said

Foremost, I must say I admire Tonto Dikeh’s confidence and doggedness, but to what avail is it when used in a wrong way. A cutlass is a good tool in the hand of a farmer, without which we cannot get food to it, but that same cutlass can kill! Despite her confidence there should be substance. Is music so hard to learn that she cannot even get average in a year?

Tonto Dikeh has a well publicised relationship with one of Africa’s best music producers, DON JAZZY. She once took to twitter to say she was deflowered by DON JAZZY and he replied saying“Me wey I still be V”. I don’t care about what they had together, my point is this, she enjoys a very good relationship with Don Jazzy, making it easy for her to have approached DON Jazzy if she truly wanted to make some good music. My opinion is this, it is either Don Jazzy already told her she cannot sing or she personally knows she can’t and decides not to talk about it to Don Jazzy.

Many upcoming artistes out there have seen their career rescinded due to annoying words from, DJs, Media personnel and the likes and yet they make music that are 10 times better than that of Tonto Dikeh. The only difference is that she was a star before she started singing making it is obvious that all we worship in the entertainment industry is money and fame not True talent and ability.

If a lady with the world at her feet and the cream of the industry at her beck and call, comes up with a song as poor as “HI” (Auto tune on a false tone (falsetto), how woeful?) and we accepted it, While there are several up and coming acts out there that can make music has good as that of Wizkid (I have met a lot that are better) still roaming the streets.

This makes me wonder if Nigerian music has a body in place to monitor the type of music produced and released to the market. I am not against Tonto Dikeh singing, I am against her singing NONSENSE! If she can learn to sing well I’d be the first to clap for her once it is good music.

Several individuals in several capacities have built Nigerian Entertainment Industry (especially the music sector) to this point of international recognition. Should we watch with folded arms as someone crumbles it recklessly? Is it true that we only work for money not passion in this industry? Will the labour of our heroes (and heroines) past go in vain. We have to stand up and support good music! True talent and a not just desire to be popular, a lust for fame! Let us remember that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere, Tonto Dikeh has to be stopped for the sake of the talented youths out there!
